Georges Boulanger
George Pantazi (18 April 1893 in Tulcea, Romania – 3 June 1958 in Buenos Aires, Argentina), better known by his stage name Georges Boulanger, was a Romanian violinist, conductor and composer. His career really took off in Berlin, where after his first radio recording as a soloist in 1926. Boulanger played in radio transmissions that were broadcast live throughout the country, in the most famous houses in Berlin and other large European cities such as the Savoy Hotel in London. He published over three hundreds of pieces on 78rpm shellac records, performed live, in the radio and in several movies. After the second world war, he started a second career in Brazil with his first engagement at the Copacabana Palace Hotel in Rio de Janeiro, followed by radio shows and concerts not only in Rio de Janeiro, but also in Campina Grande, Campinas, Curitiba, Fortaleza, Paranaguá, Pernambuco, Porto Alegre, Recife, Rio Negro, São Paulo, …. Joined by his wife Ellinor and his daughters Nora and Georgette, they moved to Buenos Aires, where he had a contract with Radio Belgrano.
